How About a Personal Hyperbaric Chamber?
The invention of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is one of the innumerable blessings that has been endowed by medical science upon the common man. While it is possible to undergo this therapy in hospitals and clinics, family members and care givers can also opt for personal hyperbaric chambers for personal and residential usage. It is universally known that Oxygen is a vital component of the ambient atmosphere that helps in sustaining life. Not only does it help all living organisms to survive, but also accelerates the process of healing. Oxygen plays an essential role in alleviating the chronic conditions caused by internal ailments like stroke, autism, fibromyalgia, gas poisoning, senility, cerebral palsy, cirrhosis, gastrointestinal ulcers, AIDS, Lyme disease, arthritis, multiple sclerosis, sports injuries etc. Prolonged fatigue, asthma, insomnia, agitation, palpitation, depression, anxiety etc. are common symptoms which demonstrate the paucity of oxygen supply to the brain and other parts of the body.
Although this therapy has been used hyperbaric chamber price since the middle of the seventeenth century, the process of administering it was properly developed by American soldiers following the First World War. Originally, HBOT therapy was administered to deep sea divers, who, after having spent long hours under sea manifested signs of nitrogen toxicity. While this therapy was used on patients with heart and lung diseases in the 1950s, doctors used this therapy to help people suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning in the next decade. In the present day scenario, hospitals and clinics make provisions for hyperbaric chambers, and in cases of emergency, doctors recommend this therapy for treating multiple wounds and illnesses.
The term ‘Hyperbaric’ is rather simplistically composed. While the term ‘hyper’ means animated and increased, ‘baric’ refers to pressure levels. Therefore, put together, in Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, that is conducted in a Personal Hyperbaric Chamber, the baric altitudes are fixed at levels that are noticeably higher than the oxygen levels in ambient atmosphere. As Dr. Cranton states, the increased pressure altitudes combined with greater levels of oxygen leads to the dissolution of greater quantities of the gas into the blood stream and body fluids, sometimes to the extent of increasing the content by almost 20 times compared to the normal oxygen concentration in the blood, organs and tissues. With sustained HBOT therapy, as stated by Dr. Cranton, the body can survive without blood for a couple of days. HBOT therapy, conducted in a Personal Hyperbaric Chamber greatly improves the defensive capacity of the central immune system, and improves its ability to fight germs and viruses. With sustained therapy, it is possible to substantially reduce the harmful effects of brain injuries and strokes.
